Help our investigations

If you suspect that an email you've received is fraudulent, you can report it to us. We use these emails to work aggressively with law enforcement agencies to investigate them.

Before you forward a suspicious email to us please note common scams which may need your immediate action.

1. You may have received an email telling you that you have won the lottery - perhaps for a lottery you haven't entered. Unless you are certain the email is genuine then the email is likely a scam where the fraudsters may try several ways to trick you including:

  • Asking for your bank details
  • Asking for an administration fee
  • The fraudsters may send you official looking documents that appear as if they come from Citibank or some other reputable organisation.

If this has happened to you and you have given them your bank details or any other personal information then you should contact your bank immediately. If you are a Citibank customer please call CitiPhone Banking on 0800 00 55 00*.

2. If you are selling goods on the internet a fraudster may email what looks like a bankers draft or other confirmation of payment and request that you send the goods. We advise caution - a fraudster will go to a lot of trouble to make the email look authentic and ask that you send the goods but then you will never receive the actual payment from the fraudster.

If you have provided personal information or bank details as a result of these scams or other suspicious emails then we suggest that you contact your bank immediately. If you are a Citibank customer please call CitiPhone Banking on 0800 00 55 00*.
