Fees & Charges

Information on the fees and charges which may be applied when using your Citi Visa Debit Card for foreign currency transactions and withdrawals abroad.

Examples

The examples below refer to transactions for 100 Euro however Citi Visa Debit Cards can also be linked to USD Current Accounts. Conversion rates and charges applied in the examples below are correct as of 5.30pm on 3 June 2013:

You make a 100 Euro point-of-sale transaction overseas from a Citi Sterling account

In this example, Citi will add an additional 2.75% fee to the Visa conversion rate which Visa use to convert the 100 Euros into Sterling. I.e. if the Visa exchange rate on that day was £0.8598:€1, the exchange rate applied will be £0.8834:€1 (including the 2.75% commission). The cost of this transaction is therefore £88.34.

You withdraw 100 Euros from a Citi Sterling account via a Citi-operated ATM overseas

In this example, Citi exchange rates are used to convert the Euro amount to Sterling. At an exchange rate of £0.8620:€1, your sterling account will be debited £86.20. There are no ATM withdrawal fees.

You withdraw 100 Euros from a Citi Sterling account using a non-Citi-operated ATM overseas

In this example, Citi will add an additional 2.75% fee to the Visa conversion rate which Visa use to convert the 100 Euros to Sterling. I.e. if the Visa exchange rate on that day was £0.8598:€1, the exchange rate applied will be £0.8834:€1 (including the 2.75% commission).

Further, Citi will charge an additional 2% (minimum £2, maximum £5) of the withdrawal amount. In this specific example, you will be charged £2 as 2% equals £1.77.

Therefore, the total cost of this transaction will be £90.34.

Additionally, the bank that owns the ATM may charge another withdrawal fee over and above the withdrawal amount.
